Practice paper

Question 1: Catherine Norman sees the personal value in taking photos of her surroundings so that they can be memories for her to look back on when she is too old to remember this part of her life. The writer conveys her ideas and helps us get a better understanding of the text by using language features. A language feature that the writer has used is dialogue, for example. “”Why?” he says, because when he looks back up at the horizon all he sees is a Tuesday morning.” The writer has chosen to use dialogue to help us understand how people can have different perspectives and opinions on life. This helps us understand the text better and the underlying message that is being presented. Another example of dialogue, “He’d probably laugh at me, tell me to stop worrying about taking photographs of everything.””Live in the moment.””. This quote from the text also helps us understand the underlying message of perspectives. Another language feature that the writer uses is personification. For example, “When I’m old, when my face is tissue paper tearing with every smile” The writer uses this to give life to the text and to get us to connect with the readers.
